Naoko Yanagisawa is a friend and classmate of Sakura Kinomoto at elementary school. She enjoys reading fantasy stories and ghost tales, finding mysterious situations intriguing without fear. In episode 31 of the anime adaptation, she accidentally obtains The Create card which disguised itself as a book. This allows her to create anything she writes in the book, though she is unaware of it. As a result, Sakura and her companions encounter an area filled with mystical creatures and circumstances, including a fire-breathing dragon. When Naoko closes the book at night, the card's power stops, allowing Sakura to capture it. The next morning, Naoko wakes up to find the book missing and assumes it disappeared due to supernatural reasons, happily. Originally, Clamp intended for Naoko to have a long-distance boyfriend, but this chapter was cut from the series. She is voiced by Emi Motoi in the Japanese adaptation, Kelly Sheridan in the English adaptation of Cardcaptors, and Sherry Lynn in the English dub of the second movie.
