Taira is the first member of BECK who joined the band as a bassist. Although Ryusuke is considered the most talented member next to him, Taira has proven himself to be quite skilled. He plays a Music Man StingRay bass and sometimes comes across as aloof. In real life, he works as a traffic officer. As the story unfolds, we discover that his father was a jazz musician who abandoned him and his mother when he was young.
