Tsukasa rescues Meiko when she collapses due to illness. Her family, including you and Kouichi, welcomes him into their home and provides him with employment and housing as he works towards becoming a professional skater.

Spoilers:

After Tsukasa placed fourth in his last tournament, he returned home to find that Meiko had passed away. Tsukasa says he stopped competing because he was unable to keep a promise to Meiko, as he previously said he would win for her and her family to give them publicity.
