Yuuichi is an individual associated with fuuka academy's student council. he initially crosses paths with mai tokiha on the same ferry in episode one and develops a negative impression of her. shiho munakata refers to him as her older brother, although they are not related by blood. yuuichi performs various tasks for the student council, which prompts mai to label him a "lackey." he sits beside mai in class. in the past, yuuichi was part of fuuka's kendo club and made it into the nationals regularly until he sustained an injury to his knee. the specific circumstances and nature of this injury are not elaborated on in the anime. masashi takeda from the kendo club looks at yuuichi's name card with a sad expression during one scene. after the injury, yuuichi became disenchanted and turned into a feared delinquent. however, shiho managed to persuade him to abandon his antisocial behavior.
