Based on his appearance, attire, and introduction during household chores, it is reasonable to assume that Rin is Ran's elder brother who is likely in high school. Although he has always found Ran a bit strange, Rin is not surprised by the discovery of her supernatural abilities. He wishes he had some as well. As the first person to make a connection between the unusual occurrences at the beginning of the series, Rin will play an important role in the future due to his experience coaching Ran on using her powers and interpreting what she learns from them.
