Himeko is a 16-year-old girl who is quite shy and innocent. She receives the most attention in anime due to being the main character. Initially, she has feelings for Sōma Ōgami, whom she grew up with as her childhood friend. Although Chikane Himemiya is not someone Himeko meets often outside of secrecy, they are close friends. Himeko enjoys photography and developed this hobby thanks to the support from Chikane. At first, she was unsure about herself due to being adopted by abusive relatives after her birth parents passed away. Later, she moved in with other relatives where she had only one friend besides Souma and Chikane, Makoto, who shared a dorm room with her.
