Ruri is an intelligent child who uses the computer system, Omoikane, as her companion. She frequently asks it questions about society and human interactions while forming a bond with it. Despite being somewhat distant from the rest of the crew, whom she views as "idiots," Ruri co-hosts the "Naze Nani Nadesico" segment and serves as the narrator at the beginning of each episode in the anime series Nadesico. She is known for her cold demeanor and extensive knowledge on various topics. In contrast to the activities that most crew members engage in, Ruri enjoys playing video games and communicating with Omoikane while regulating the Nadesico's systems. While she may be a minor character in the TV series, her role is significant in the movie version of Nadesico.
