In the realm of anime and manga known as Tenchi Muyo!, a bioroid named D was created. This artificial being, first presented in this universe, possesses both biological and mechanical components. The conflict between Earth Defense Force and Rara Army originated when an artifact containing D and two mechas was discovered. Since her body sustained damage, a bioroid was constructed to house her essence, represented by a glowing orb instead of an eye. Despite appearing robotic and speaking mechanically, D exhibits curiosity about human emotions and behavior. However, she remains guarded, with the exception of Kazuki, who manages to penetrate her defensive facade.
D frequently experiences visions of a terrifying creature and is petrified of Himiko. Her attachment to Kazuki culminates in her decision to return to her genuine form at series' climax to save him. It is later revealed that D had stolen Zinv and fled her world to evade Himiko and Kumu, who claimed the lives of her companions. As a pilot of mechas, D performs poorly, often necessitating rescue from Kazuki and Mitsuki. Nevertheless, she redeems herself by removing the limiter on Zinv, enabling its full potential.
When Zinv is destroyed and worlds merge, D transforms into Dee Sanada, adopting the lively personality of a young girl. There exists a resemblance between D and Tenchi Muyo! GXP character Neju na Melmas, leading some to speculate that they may belong to the same race.
