Al is an apprentice gnome who maintains the gravity levels in aqua to match those of man-home. despite his youthful appearance and short stature, he is actually nineteen years old. although he enjoys making "old guy jokes," aika finds them annoying when she's around. al wears glasses but it's unknown if he has poor eyesight or not. he possesses excellent night vision due to spending most of his life underground. in the manga, he tends to faint during hot summer days in neo-venezia because gnomes are not used to this heat. despite this, al lives on ukijima and often takes care of akatsuki and woody when they were young children. it's known that aika has a crush on him, causing her to become shy around him.
