A wolf encounters Mei in a barn during a stormy night while it's dark outside. Despite being unfamiliar with the lamb, the wolf forms a bond with it due to its friendly nature. However, Gabu struggles to suppress his wolf instincts and avoid eating Mei because of the darkness that surrounds them. He also feels responsible for protecting the lamb from his pack's hunts. Eventually, Gabu's clan discovers their friendship, forcing both of them to travel to a location where their bond won't be tested.
