In "Battle Club! A Mysterious Pokémon Appears!!", Don George is introduced to Ash and Iris by introducing himself and suggesting they battle a Trainer. As the judge of their battle, he watches as alarms go off and the group investigates. They discover Team Rocket is responsible for the commotion and believe the culprit to be an Umbreon. After spotting it, Don George and his assistants chase after it until they corner it, revealing it to be a Meowth. Back at the club, Ash finds the perpetrator, a Pokabu, and shows him the rope. He tells Ash that his previous Trainer rejected it before allowing Ash to capture the Pokabu.
