Iris is a character from Pokemon Best Wishes who serves as the female protagonist. Her primary Pokemon companion is Axew, a Dragon-type creature. She also has an Excadrill that was with her since it was a Drilbur and an Emolga. Iris hails from the Dragon Village and has been tasked by its elder to raise Axew into a powerful Haxorus. Initially, she sets out on this journey alone but later joins forces with Ash Ketchum after meeting him. In Pokemon White for Nintendo DS, Iris serves as the 8th Gym Leader of the Unova Region and is mentored by an elderly man named Drayden who specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon. Two years later, she emerges victorious as the Champion in both Pokemon Black and White 2.
