Tsugumi was raised by Claude of the Beehive Gangsters and trained as an assassin. Initially presented as male, she later transfers to Chitoges class with orders to safeguard her from Raku, whom she believed had forced Chitoge into their relationship. Despite being childhood friends, Tsugumi tries to fulfill a ten-year promise of becoming strong to protect Chitoge. However, after Raku treats her kindly, she develops feelings for him but is too stubborn and shy to confess them. In America, her assassin alias is "Black Tiger," who had a rivalry with "White Fang." Academically, Tsugumi performs exceptionally well, ranking closely to Chitoge on an annual exam.
