The owner of a budget vintage shop near Nanas apartment in Tokyo employed Hachi, but eventually shut down the business to relocate back home. Later on, he sent her a postcard featuring him and his spouse (a childhood friend) getting married, which was ironic given Hachis sadness at the moment.
