Enkidu is known as Gilgamesh's only true friend. Much like Gilgamesh, Enkidu values their friendship highly. Although it currently has a humanoid form, it is not a human but rather a living mud creature sculpted by the gods of ancient times. Unlike humans, Enkidu does not have gender; instead, it is simply a clay monster that descended from the heavens and appeared in the forest.
Enkidu appreciates nature and finds solace in its beauty even after cities like Uruk covered the world. It enjoys sitting quietly while its Master rests and taking in the magnificent natural landscape and the "song of the river." Even when confronting those who have hurt Gilgamesh, Enkidu speaks calmly and politely.
Enkidu's strength is beyond human understanding, and Gilgamesh considers it his equal in the world. It has a unique connection with nature and can communicate using an animal language (獅の言葉) that allows it to understand, interact with, and translate the "words" of its Master and other animals.
