Nanako, a 16-year-old high school student and avid fan of Makunouchi Ippos, views Mashiba Kumi as a competitor due to their shared love for the boxer. She frequently seeks opportunities to be near Ippo and even attempted to steal a kiss from him while he was sleeping after a tough match, but her attempt was thwarted by Kumi. Like her brother Manabu, Nanako is very attractive, and she shares her family's love for puns. Despite Kyousuke Imais feelings towards her, Nanako disregards them as she has no interest in dating the rival of her beloved Makunouchi Ippo.
