Meet Setsuna Shinmeiryu, a swordswoman from Kyoto who was taken under the wing of Eishun Konoe, leader of the Kyoto Mage Association. She's childhood friends with his daughter, Konoka, and serves as her protector. Initially reserved due to unforgiving herself for failing to save Konoka when they were kids, she eventually warms up to her friend after the Kyoto arc. Setsuna calls Konoka "Oujo-sama" and "Kono-chan." Her weapon of choice is Sica Shishikushiro, a wakizashi that can be summoned and multiplied like missiles. Trained in anti-demon arts, she also taught Negi how to create shikigami from paper. Setsuna's a hanyou, specifically a crow, expelled from her people because white wings are seen as an omen. It's implied that she's an albino using hair dye and contact lenses to appear human. A recurring joke in the series is that Setsuna and Konoka seem to have romantic feelings for each other but Setsuna always denies it when confronted or questioned about her preferences.
