Daiki Asuka is a fourteen-year-old student at St. Paulias Private School who excels academically but lacks physical strength and motor skills. Known as "Asuka Jr." by his classmates, he's the son of Detective Tomoki Asuka, who has been unable to catch Saint Tail despite placing no emergency on her capture. Inspired by his father's failure, Daiki sets out to one-up him by catching Saint Tail himself. After getting close enough to photograph her, he receives a badge from the mayor that allows him to investigate anywhere. With this assistance, he helps the police in capturing Saint Tail. However, Asuka Jr. becomes increasingly fixated on Saint Tail and fails to recognize Meimi's growing feelings for him. He frequently argues with her over their shared interest in Saint Tail and his inability to catch her. As a result, he develops conflicting emotions towards both Saint Tail and Meimi, torn between which one he is falling in love with.
