In both manga and anime versions of kakouton's best friend, he was close friends with sousou and kaku. despite being diagnosed with cancer and expected to die, he somehow managed to recover. however, in the anime version, he was killed by bashoku instead of put into a coma. in both versions, kakouton was much stronger than his manga counterpart, easily defeating ryomou in the first season. to kill him, bashoku had to resort to poisoning in the anime rather than putting him into a coma as he did in the manga.
