During Ash's visit to the museum, he encounters an artificial intelligence assistant who explains the history of the city and the Defense Mechanism of Altomare (DMA). However, Ash is distracted by the presence of Bianca, although it was actually Latias in disguise who he saved. While following Bianca and Latias to the secret garden of Latios and Latias, Ash nearly gets into trouble for leaning on the DMA. Lorenzo arrives just in time to prevent harm to Ash and Pikachu, and allows Latias to play with them. He reveals that he knew the father of the two guardians and explains how they became theirs after their father died. After leaving the garden, Lorenzo cuts through his workshop where he constructs gondolas. Later, he is knocked out by Annie's Espeon and is found by Bianca. Ash, Latias, and Pikachu come to save them and stop the DMA from being used again. However, Annie causes the DMA to go out of control due to her ignorance about the corrupted Soul Dew. Lorenzo realizes that he has died after witnessing the sacrifice of Latios. He later bids farewell to Ash, Misty, and Brock as they leave the city. In the credits, Lorenzo is seen with a construction crew working on either rebuilding or fixing the DMA in the museum.
