Hikaru Hitachiin is an introverted first-year student who enjoys teasing his fellow Host Club members Haruhi and Tamaki. He has a mischievous personality and often calls Tamaki "My Lord." Along with his younger identical twin, Kaoru, they present themselves as forbidden brothers in love to attract clients. While Hikaru is calculating in his interactions with customers, this is due to their deep bond and reluctance to let anyone into their world. They share an emotional connection that was formed through a lonely childhood and the fact that no one could tell them apart without looking at their hair parting (Hikaru's parts to the right; Kaoru's parts to the left). Haruhi is the first person who can differentiate between Hikaru and Kaoru, which they value greatly. Although Hikaru and Kaoru are identical twins, Hikaru is more childish and immature than Kaoru, despite being older.
