Akari's first friend on Aqua is an undine named Aika, who works at Himeya, a water-guide company in Neo-Venezia. As the daughter of the company owners and heir to the business, she receives a lot of attention from employees. However, she doesn't enjoy this distinction as much because it often makes her feel like she is being fawned upon too much. Aika has a blunt and open personality and frequently cuts off Akari's idealistic comments with "Embarrassing remarks are not allowed!" (恥ずかしいセリフ禁止！, Hazukashii serifu kinshi!). Despite their different personalities, they get along well. Aika is very proud of her undine abilities and tends to be competitive in this area. She also worships Alice and often finds excuses to visit the Aria company where she spends time with her. If it weren't for her family obligations, Aika would join Aria company.
