Kyouko is a seventeen-year-old cousin of Tsukune, who is described as tomboyish with a stubborn streak. She is overprotective of him and makes her appearance on the second day of the school festival while searching for Yōkai Academy. Tsukune and his friends try to keep Kyouko from learning about the academy's nature, its students, and their own involvement in it. Eventually, Kyouko is able to enter the yōkai world by delivering a mysterious package containing the Lilith Mirror, which grants wishes but at the cost of one's soul. Later, she believes Tsukune may be involved with the Yakuza and has a tumultuous experience with the Lilith Mirror. In the anime, Kyouko is mentioned on a cell phone in the first series and makes an appearance in the seventh episode of the second series where she tries to decide who should be Tsukune's girlfriend.
