She is a female Saiyan who is married to Bardock and has children named Raditz and Kakarrot. Her name is derived from that of a vegetable, specifically a spring onion (negi in Japanese). In the Dragon Ball manga, her mother is mentioned by Raditz when he tells Gokuu about their deceased parents along with planet Vegeta. Later, Vegeta also brings up their demise while pleading for Freeza's destruction. The character was first introduced in an interview with Akira Toriyama in the March 2014 issue of Saikyō Jump (released in February 2014), and her design was presented in Dragon Ball Minus, a short story included in the collected volume of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman (April 4, 2014).
