The main character of the series is a skilled worker who works for Benika as a mediator. Despite his relaxed appearance and easygoing personality, he possesses great strength and capability. Tragically, he lost his family in a terrorist attack when he was young, causing him to withdraw from society until he met Benika. Inspired by her power, he aimed to become as strong as she was so that he could live on. Eventually, Benika left him at the Hōzuki household where he trained intensively and learned Hōzuki-style martial arts. His kind demeanor attracts attention from the opposite gender, but he is completely unaware of it. In emergency situations, he can produce a large horn from his right elbow, classifying him as "Type 1 Class 2 Fighting Demon." This special weapon was designed for assassination and allows him to use all his strength in combat, though it shortens his lifespan. When forced to fight, his personality changes to become more aggressive. The anime and manga portray Shinkurō differently; in the anime, he appears less confident and has less control over the Hozuki horn.
