The character in question is conrad, who was once a guard of the capulet family and saved juliet and cordelia from death fourteen years ago. he has since become a priest and now takes care of juliet, despite being frustrated by her behavior. on juliet's sixteenth birthday, he presents to her the sword of the house of capulet, which was used in battle. conrad later becomes the de facto leader of the capulet faction, planning an assassination attempt on lord montague. however, his plans are betrayed by camio and he is injured during a raid against the capulets' supporters. after recovering, he presents juliet with the family sword again to revive her resolve for their cause. when juliet disappears after the montagues defeat, conrad orders francisco and curio to search for her. he is evacuated from the castle during the battle for juliet. in the final scene, he tends to an iris flower memorial with antonio, wondering if his past actions with juliet were fair.
