Daikichi Kawachi

30-year-old bachelor Daikichi has a tendency of scaring away both women and children, although he doesn't mind that he scares children because he isn't fond of young people. Despite being single, Daikichi feels lonely due to his status as a bachelor. At his grandfather's funeral, he meets an illegitimate orphaned child named Rin. In anger at his relatives' cold shoulder towards the girl, Daikichi announces that he will take care of her. As a result, he finds himself in the role of father and must adjust his life accordingly. Although Daikichi doesn't have much motivation aside from going to work each day, he feels sorry for Rin and takes her in after his grandfather passes away. Being an inexperienced bachelor with kids, he has a lot to learn but uses his laid-back personality and honest hard work to give Rin what she needs. His patient, awkward, gentle, and straightforward nature works well with Rin's shy wit. Despite making mistakes as a new parent, Daikichi is constantly learning and loving for each one he makes.
