In the story, Raoh is the oldest of four children trained by Ryuken, who was once the master of Hokuto Shinken. There are two different origins for Raoh's background throughout the narrative. Initially, it is stated that he and his biological younger brother Toki were adopted by Ryuken after their parents passed away. Later on, another origin emerges showing that Raoh, Toki, and an infant Kenshiro were refugees who were sent to "Eastern Land" for training in Hokuto Shinken by Ryuken. Along with Toki and Kenshiro, as well as Jagi, Raoh trained under Ryuken. Despite his aspirations to become the greatest martial artist globally, he lost the right to inherit the Hokuto Shinken succession to Kenshiro. After killing his master in combat, Raoh formed his own army and assumed the name Ken-oh, King of Fist. Among his subordinates are Jagi, Amiba (who impersonates Toki), Uighur (the warden of Cassandra Dungeon), Juda (of Nanto Seiken), Ryuga (of Star Sirius) and others. Additionally, Raoh began riding a large black stallion named Kokuoh-Go.
