Tsukuba is a senior at Kenichi's school and has a black belt in sports karate, which combines techniques from boxing and karate. He is known for being a strong fighter, as he can handle two opponents from the Karate club simultaneously, break rocks with his bare hands, and shatter bats with just one kick, according to Kenichi during his mental breakdown. As referee for Kenichi's fight against Daimonji, Tsukuba was eager to test Kenichi's abilities after his victory. Although he easily defeated Kenichi in their first encounter, he felt unsatisfied with the outcome when he noticed bruises on his ankle where Kenichi had grabbed him during the match. In their second bout, Tsukuba was quickly bested by Kenichi's Yamatzuki and overhead throw. After losing to Kenichi, Tsukuba reported his defeat to Ragnaroks Kisara, who instructed him to leave town. This event propelled Kenichi into the martial arts world.
