In 1857, a man named Sakugen Kobayashi was born to parents who died shortly after his birth. At eight years old, he lost his sight due to smallpox. His father also passed away in an accident when he was eleven. As an orphan, Kobayashi decided to pursue his passion for playing the shamisen, which he learned from a group of blind women street performers known as goze. Despite facing numerous challenges, Kobayashi's ultimate goal was to entertain and please his audience. His efforts would eventually lead him to create the foundation of the Shamisen of Tsugaru, which is now recognized and respected worldwide.
