Leila Malcal is a Major in the E.U. Army who defected with her family from Britannia due to disagreement with its outdated rule system. Born in Europe, she was adopted into the Malcal family after losing both parents. She served as an adjutant to Commander Anou in the W-0 Unit and planned Operation Alpha to rescue the 132nd Regiment in Narva. However, Leila confronted Anou about his last minute decision to use Japanese youngsters for suicide attacks and removed him from command. After the operation's success, she was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and given direct control of the W-0 Unit by General Smilas.
