During the One Year War, Slender accompanied Gene and Denim on a reconnaissance mission to Side 7 under the command of Char Aznable. While Gene and Denim ventured deeper into the colony, Slender remained near the exit to keep watch. Following an outburst attack by Gene, Slender submitted a report to Dren and Char before managing to escape unharmed, unlike Gene and Denim, who were captured after Amuro Ray piloted the RX-78-2 Gundam.
