Reiko is the mother of Kai, who works as a prostitute. Although she enjoys spending time near the sea, she has never had the opportunity to see it personally and thus named her son after this body of water. Given that she grew up in the Edge of the Forest, it's not surprising that she turned to this line of work. Despite her profession and personal struggles with men, Reiko gave birth to Kai at a young age of 15, which means she was only around 25 years old when we first meet her in the manga. However, despite her youthful appearance, she has experienced many hardships throughout her life.
