A young girl with an uncertain background who was rescued from the sea by a passing ferry. despite her primary motivation to locate her sibling, mikoto has formed a strong bond with mai. at fuuka academy, she seeks to uncover the truth about her brother's whereabouts. her element is a massive black claymore named miroku, which responds to her summons when it's not in close proximity. miroku boasts several unique abilities, such as cutting through nearly any object with ease, including ships without requiring physical force. when activated, red eye-shaped markings appear on the blade. initially, it is believed that miroku itself serves as her child; however, later revelations unveil a monstrous ogre-like creature known as miroku, which wields a massive spiked club and bears the same name. this child appears to be under the control of the obsidian lord rather than mikoto, as demonstrated when it attempted to halt kagutsuchi's attack on the lord. in the early episodes, mikoto behaves as though she was raised by cats, earning her the nickname "cat goddess" in my-otome.
