In the manga, Hao's former teammate Denbat was part of Team X-IIs when they tried to kill him. However, their attempt failed and Denbat cursed Hao for killing his comrades, Porf and Lucky. Despite being aware that this action could have dire consequences, Denbat had prepared a satellite in space with a laser known as XDI. He fired the laser at Hao from orbit but unfortunately met his end when Hao deflected the blast. After his death, his spirit was contained within a grenade launcher's ammunition and named after Golden Bat cigarettes.
