Strongest Man in the World, Whitebeard, エドワード・ニューゲート

Whitebeard is currently considered the strongest pirate in the world, with many believing that he is close to obtaining the legendary treasure One Piece. He has had numerous battles with the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and was once marked as his equal. Despite being surrounded by nurses and hooked up to intravenous tubes due to health issues possibly from age or past encounters with other great pirates, Whitebeard still drinks rum directly from the barrel. His strength in his prime is unknown but he remains the worlds strongest pirate today. When Whitebeard first appears, he receives a letter from Red-Haired Shanks on behalf of his newest crewmate Rockstar. However, before reading it, Whitebeard throws it away and asks for an expensive bottle of sake when Shanks visits in person. When they finally meet, Shanks calls him "boy," indicating his feelings for the much younger captain compared to his own age and prestige in the "New World" section of the Grand Line.
