The chief engineer on Yamato is a middle-aged man who has balding hair and was an old friend of Juzo Okita. He had a grandchild he loved dearly, and despite the danger, he remained committed to his job until he died in the final episode of season 2 when the engine room filled with fumes. His name is derived from Tokugawa Ieyasu, a shougun in Japanese history.
