Yuan is a half-elf who serves as the leader of the Renegades, an organization that opposes Cruxis, one of the Four Seraphim. He pretends to be loyal to Mithos so he can gather information about their plans and thwart them. When working for Mithos, Yuan leaves control of the Renegades to his lieutenant, Botta. 4,000 years before the game began, Yuan journeyed with Mithos and his companions in the past to end the Kharlan War and was engaged to Martel. She asked them to make the world a better place and stop half-elf discrimination. Although Mithos tried to fulfill her wish, not in the way she intended, Yuan knew that Martel did not want it fulfilled as he interpreted it, so he tries to prevent him from doing so. Later on, Yuan helped the Chosen group defeat Mithos and is considered an anti-hero. He is resolute in his views and strategic, but also chooses to act covertly to remain close to Mithos. In contrast, Lloyd goes out of his way to find solutions that don't harm anyone, while Yuan is willing to sacrifice others if necessary.
