Atsuro Kawai, a hillclimb racer from the Seven Star Leaf team based in Tochigi, has demonstrated impressive skills in grip racing techniques. However, his mastery of these skills is not on par with that of Takeshi Nakazato. His car is capable of generating up to 400 horsepower. During Project D's initial expedition in Tochiji, Atsuro competes against Keisuke.
