Naoji Ishizuki  

Naoji does not possess a rank or noble status, despite being born into a distinguished family in japan. his father sent him to kuchen with the intention of educating and preparing him for life while also safeguarding him from the impending war in his homeland (wwii). however, unbeknownst to naoji, a citizenship application was submitted on his behalf by his father without his knowledge or consent. this has caused him great distress. naoji is currently residing with foster, who served as a surrogate father figure for his mother. his grandmother, born in kuchen to the dukedom, was described as an exemplary lady with impeccable education. she met naoji's grandfather while studying abroad and subsequently eloped with him to japan. throughout the anime series, naoji is the only character who speaks common japanese, while the rest of the characters communicate in a highly polite and somewhat archaic dialect to distinguish themselves from one another.
