Tombo Kopoli  

A young boy in the city where Kiki settles is fourteen years old and has an obsession with aviation. He is part of a club that constructs human-powered aircraft. At first, he is only fascinated by Kikis ability to fly, but later they become friends despite her clearly intimidating him. The name "Kopoli" may be either given or family, and the nickname "Tombo," which means dragonfly in Japanese, is used instead.
