Tae Sekihara manages the beef hot pot restaurant Akabeko. She is approximately 20 years old and has a twin sister named Sae who runs a similar establishment called Shirobeko in Kyoto. Sanosuke owes her a substantial amount of money, including interest. In both the anime and manga, Tae has attempted to facilitate a romantic relationship between Kenshin and Kaoru, as she believed that their dynamic was not working effectively.
