Hyō, who grew up alongside his best friend and fellow orphan, Shin, was raised in slavery. When Shin first arrived at the village head's home, Hyō befriended him and instilled within him the dream of becoming the greatest general in history. Although little is known about Hyō's family or past, it is clear that he had a more level-headed approach to life than his best friend, Shin. Despite this, their swordsmanship skills were nearly equal. However, Hyō did not possess the same strength as Shin, and he admitted to Ei Sei that he believed Shin was stronger than him. Unlike Shin, Hyō also seemed more domesticated due to his exceptional cooking and cleaning abilities. He also demonstrated strong leadership qualities when he led a charge into the enemy's ranks and inspired all of King's soldiers to believe he was their leader. Although they were eventually forced to recognize the truth about him, the soldiers remained captivated by Hyō's charisma and could never forget his sacrifice. As such, it can be said that Hyō possessed exceptional leadership abilities, far surpassing those of Shin. In the manga, it is revealed that Shin's strength was enhanced due to his gorilla-like power and a special "anger" stat associated with his strength ability. This allowed him to excel under pressure and enter into a state of tranquil fury. While Hyō also performed well under pressure, he did not possess the same level of exceptionalism as Shin.
