Makoto Hanamiya is a player on Kirisaki Daichi High's basketball team and holds the title of "Bad Boy." He is known for using underhanded tactics to win games, including foul play that can injure other players. Despite this, he has a significant influence over his teammates and can develop plans to execute them effectively. Makoto often employs dirty tactics to gain an advantage on the court, sometimes forcing opponents to stop playing temporarily. While he may be hypocritric about his methods at times, he does not deny their effectiveness. When Kiyoshis "execution" was ordered, Makoto said "Rest in peace," giving him a sinister appearance. He believes that regardless of someone's talent or skill level, if his team can break them, then they are no longer valuable. Additionally, Makoto is highly competitive and does not take kindly to things not going his way.
