Maruss and Rembrant are a duo that pursue Tia and Megumi early on during the Mamodo fight. Their element is metal. Initially, Maruss was close friends with Tia in the Mamodo World, caring for her and looking out for her compared to her bullying behavior towards Zatch. However, once they arrived in the human world, his perspective shifted, believing that friendship could no longer exist due to the nature of fighting and that he must go against one another to become king. Rembrant is a power-hungry and foolish individual who believes he can rule the world with Maruss as his mamodo. When Tia and Maruss first meet in the human world, he betrays her and attacks her, sending her into the ocean. Later, when Tia survives and is taken care of by Megumi, they continue to pursue her and attack them on multiple occasions due to Megumi's fame as an idol. While assaulting Tia during one of her concerts, Zatch comes to her rescue by standing up to Maruss until both their bookkeepers arrive to fight the battle against him. In the end, it is Zatch, who was once considered a weakling and neither he nor Tia cared for, who defeats the arrogant Mamodo and forces Tia to reconsider her views on friendship in the heat of battle.
