In Stellvia, Ayaka is portrayed as highly competitive and driven to be the best. She has an inferiority complex which leads her to take extreme measures to ensure her position at the top of her class. Two years ago, when Yayoi was her classmate, Ayaka arranged for an accident to secure her spot. However, things went awry and it seemed like Yayoi might lose her life. Ayaka rescued her, but Yayoi was left traumatized and eventually left Stellvia. Now, with Shima Katase challenging her position as one of the "Big 4," Ayaka is once again faced with a similar situation. Had Yayoi not returned to Stellvia and recognized the danger Shipon might be in, Ayaka could have seriously injured or even killed her. Due to Yayoi's defense, Ayaka was suspended for a time but was ultimately not expelled from Stellvia. After Yayoi forgave Ayaka for nearly causing her to lose her life, they became very close friends. While it appeared that Ayaka was closer to Yayoi than Kent Austin in the last episode, she seems to have strong feelings for both of them.
