In Final Fantasy VII, Red XII was first introduced as a young warrior from the last of his tribe. He initially encountered Cloud in Shinra HQ during an experiment by Hojo's scientist team. As the story progressed, he formed close bonds with his companions and learned more about his own mysterious past. In Final Fantasy Advent Children, Red made a brief appearance alongside Cait Sith in their battle against Bahamut-SIN. Despite being 50 years old, which is equivalent to 18 human years for his race, Red remained thoughtful, loyal, and caring towards both his friends and hometown of Cosmo Canyon.
