James Darren Emerson, also known as Doggie or Doggie-niisan, is a member of the Gekkostate. He joined the team after Renton and began working on LFO catapult systems and launch pads. Later, he became the head pilot, replacing Talho when she had to leave her position. His license shows his name as James Darren Emerson. Doggie is often referred to by his nickname "Doggie" by other members of Gekkostate, including Renton who calls him "Brother Doggie." In the Japanese version, he speaks with a Kumamoto accent when he gets emotional. In English, he sometimes uses surfer speak. Doggie's role in the series was minimal towards the end, mainly piloting Gekko and making dramatic maneuvers to avoid attacks.
