Minashiro Soushi, one of the children living on Tatsumiya Island, is the only person aware that Earth has been under attack by an alien race known as Festum for over three decades. His father, Minashiro Kouzou, commands a secret military fortress called Alvis located beneath the island's peaceful facade. From childhood, Soushi was raised to become the next commander of Alvis and has had a secluded upbringing carrying the weight of the war and being told daily that he must protect the island at all costs. Although he was close friends with Kazuki as children, their friendship suffered due to an incident in which Kazuki accidentally blinded Soushi's left eye. Despite his visual impairment, Soushi serves as the battle commander who connects directly into the minds of all Fafner pilots through a supercomputer called Siegfried System during battles against Festum. The other pilots look up to him for guidance and leadership, including Kazuki. Due to his years of isolation, Soushi struggles with social interactions and is often perceived as cold or indifferent by others. However, Kazuki makes an effort to understand and befriend him, leading the two to develop a close bond over time. Additionally, Soushi has a younger sister named Tsubaki who serves as the island's core and powers all its computer systems.
