Hanai was known as the clean up hitter during middle school, but now bats fifth at Nishiura. Despite this change, Hanai remains level-headed and smart, with strong observational skills. He is dependable, aware of his own strengths and weaknesses, and willing to assist when necessary. However, he isn't afraid to challenge Momoe-san when needed. These qualities made him the unanimous choice for team captain. Initially, Hanai tried to compete with Tajima, but eventually recognized that Tajima was a superior batter.
